The Braun family and its history
We can trace the presence of the Braun family in Alsace back to 1583
Since then, generations of wine growers have followed one another, with the tradition being passed down from father to son. It was in 1902 that Michel Braun bought a house built in 1693, located in the heart of the area. He made it the family seat and expanded his farm with the help of his son.
From 1960 onwards, his grandson, Camille Braun, took over the farm which up to this point had produced a variety of crops. He refocused its activity exclusively on wine growing and the sale of his own bottled wine. From initially farming 2.5 hectares, 30 years later this had grown to approximately 10 hectares of vineyard.

From 1987 onwards, the family business was gradually taken on by his son Christophe Braun, assisted by his parents and helped by his sister Marie-Laure. |
The village of Orschwihr,
Orschwihr was known by the name of Otalesvilare from 728 AD. The district of Orschwihr began to grow from the 13th century onwards. It was a possession of the bishops of Strasbourg. The Habsburgs also owned a farm on the estate. Since time immemorial, the village has derived its wealth from wine production with its well-positioned hillsides offering excellent climatic conditions. This affluence is still visible today with the continued existence of a number of major agricultural and wine-producing properties erected from the 16th to the 19th century.
