Kaefferkopf Grand Cru

Since 2012, the winery has been working a parcel of Riesling and a parcel of Gewurztraminer on the Kaefferkopf Grand Cru, located in the villages of Katzenthal and Ammerschwihr. It was the last Grand Cru of Alsace which has been integrated in 2007, but it was however the first Alsatian terroir to be recognized and marked out, since the XIVth century, way before the appearance of the first Grand Cru in 1975.

Geology

Our parcels are located on the upon-south part of the Kaefferkopf Grand Cru. There soils are composed of two micas granite (also called Turckheim’s granite).

The wines

The granite gives to the wines of these parcels a crystalline acidity and very elegant aromas. Kaefferkopf gives great wines for ageing.
