The Pfingsberg Grand Cru, located in Orschwihr, is a notable terroir thanks to its geology, orientation and slope. It reaches 350 meter high.
Geology This Grand Cru is composed of substratum of chalky sandstone and micaceous sandstone. The soil, pretty draining, avoids the water excess and stores the heat up to provide it afterwards to the vine. The wines The Pfingsberg is perfectly adapted to the Riesling and the Pinot Gris by giving to these wines, delicacy, flower smells and sometimes even exotic or more complex scents. Biodynamic methods help reaching great acidities and structures. These wines also propose, thank to this terroir, a pretty good ageing aptitude, from 10 to 15 years and even more for the greatest vintages. The regularity of the vintages is pretty remarkable. |
