Domaine Camille Braun in honour of iDealwine: a family heritage in line with nature
Published on 6 July 2026
The Domaine Camille Braun has just been the subject of a exclusive portrait published by iDealwine, one of the largest French platforms for selling and discovering fine wines. An article that traces our family history, our biodynamic philosophy and our emblematic cuvées from the terroirs of Orschwihr, Alsace.
iDealwine highlights Domaine Camille Braun
iDealwine has devoted a long portrait to our estate, returning to three generations of harvesters implanted in Orschwihr, wine village of the Route des Vins of Alsace in the Upper Rhine (68500).
From the first bottling of Camille Braun in the 1960s, an innovative gesture at a time when selling to the cooperative was the norm, until Annabelle Braun took over the estate at the end of 2023, iDealwine traces the evolution of a family estate in perpetual renewal, always faithful to its deep convictions: respect nature, vine and wine.

A family estate rooted in Alsatian winemaking history
Generations serving the terroir
The history of the Domaine Camille Braun begins with Camille and Marguerite Braun, both from families of farmers of Swiss origin. Pioneers, they chose to devote themselves exclusively to the vine and to bottle their wines themselves as early as the 1960s, a practice which was then very rare in Alsace.
Their son Christophe Braun in the 1980s, at only 18 years old, and gradually expands the vineyard with Chantal, his wife, up to 15 hectares. As a precursor in environmental matters, he started biological conversion as early as the year 2000, obtaining the Bio certification, then the Demeter and Biodyvin certification.
A new generation at the helm
Late 2023, Annabelle Braun take over the domain. Strong master's degree in wine management, training at Zind-Humbrecht, experiments in Cécile Tremblay and Christophe Roumier & Jean-Marc Grussaute, it breathes a new look while preserving the deep identity of the domain. She was joined in 2024 by her spouse Quentin, graduated from the same school. Together, they manage a smooth transition with the old generation.
Our philosophy: leave it at the service of life
The doctrine of Domaine Camille Braun states in a few words: making your terroir speak correctly. Let the vine express, let the terroir speak.
In concrete terms, this means:
- 🌿 Stretching rather than stinging on the great crus and parcellaires
- 🌱 Weeding one row out of two, gradually moving towards mowing
- 🍇 Fully manual harvests, with sorting of grapes directly in vine and on table
- 🧫 Native Yeasts for fermentation
- 🪵 A lightning or barrel farm according to cuvées, 12 to 18 months
- ⏳ No fixed calendar : the work follows the rhythm of the wine, not the reverse
This philosophy, rooted in the Demeter and Biodyvin Certified Biodynamics, made the domain one of the most committed of Alsace in respect of the living.
Our terroirs: a unique geological mosaic
